Heavy Metal Thunder

These photos were actually taken awhile back, and for some reason I keep forgetting to post them! What's wrong with me, haha! When Michelle took these we were driving around and happened to pass this AWESOME old Ford truck, and we had to stop, it went so well with my sort of "grungy" outfit!

Top is from Sheinside, and vest is from Choies.

I don't know why but I just love junkyards and the like!

This wolf shirt from Sheinside is one of my favourite printed t-shirts! Necklace is by Angel Court.

Love love LOVE these shoes from Cozbest! I want too wear them again on the 4th of July!

Also, Michelle took some photos of Josh this day too, so I wanted to include them!! Josh actually cut his hair short really recently, so looking at these photos is sooo weird to me!

He looks so amused at the eagle mural, haha!

Happy (early) Father's Day!! // Xperience Days Lunch Cruise!!

For those of you who celebrate, Happy Father's day!! (Well, tomorrow anyway). For this occasion, I was lucky enough to be contacted by a company called Xperience Days who let me take my dad on a lunch cruise last weekend on the Portland Spirit along the Wilamette River!! (Also haha, my dad is totally squinting in this photo!!)

I really love my dad, and he works so hard every day to support our family, so he really deserved this little cruise, I think! I hope I can treat my mom to something awesome next Mother's Day, too!

My dad really likes this song, so I thought I'd include it in this post! It's called "It's a Long Way There" by the Little River Band. If the video player doesn't work, just click to view on Youtube!

There were so many little sailboats EVERYWHERE. It turned out to be a really great day, so it seemed like everyone and their grandma was out playing around in the water!

Dragon Boats! There seems to be a pretty huge community of people here that love them!

Jim is really excited to eat his burger! These things were fuckin' massive.

There were a lot of floating homes, too! They were really pretty, but I'm not really sure I'd trust living on one, haha.

Some of the skyscrapers of the City of Portland in the background! As you notice, we tend to have short and wide skyscrapers rather than super tall ones--we actually have a law here on the height compared to width of each building, so that the natural scenic skyline isn't ruined with buildings! (Not surprising that we're also basically the greenest city in the entire United States, too!)

While taking these photos outside it was SOO windy! When I came back inside and looked in the mirror my bangs were EVERYWHERE, haha!

This was the captain! He was really nice and showing this kid how to steer the boat! All along the cruise you could hear the captain on the loudseaker telling various facts about the boat, Portland, Oregon, and the river. I actually learned that the Willamette River is one of the few rivers in the entire world whose current flows to the North. So strange!!

More big ships!!

My dad looking stoic, haha! I'm really glad he had so much fun on the trip!!

My parents came to visit from out of town to come on the cruise, and when they came, they brought my dog Kibo with them! He was so excited to see me, I thought he was going to wag his little tail off!

I was actually looking through the Xperience Days website and you can buy some pretty cool "Experiences"! The entire premise of their website is that you can buy a day of fun with different options they have. For example, you could go for a hot air balloon ride, go whitewater rafting (which was almost the experience we picked instead of the lunch cruise!) or...you could even be in an AIR COMBAT MOCK DOGFIGHT. Like, are you kidding me?! How badass does it get? (I'd love to try that one someday!)

I'm really thankful they invited me to have an experience with them, and I would totally use their services again!

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed looking at this Father's Day post--I sure enjoyed the lunch cruise!!
I love you dad, thanks for being a great one!!

Thanks so much for takin' a look at my blog, and have a wonderful rest of your day!!

Cotton Candy Submarine // Thank you for 14,000+ followers on LookBook.nu!!

Recently I wore this outfit to the Eugene, Oregon Rhododendron Garden! It was super hot the day I wore this, but even though the shirt was long sleeved I wasn't very hot! It's super breezy. I always love going to the garden!

(Top is from Choies, shorts are from Romwe, and necklace is from Oasap!)

Also, here's the song that inspired this look! It's a remix of "Strawberry Letter 23" by The Brothers Johnson, this one is by XXYYXX called "Letter 23."

Sweater is a gift from Crossroads Trading!! Love them <3

Seahorse necklace is SO SICK! I'd been wanting to get it forever but it kept selling out! I've always thought seahorses are interesting cause the males incubate the babies and THEY actually "give birth" to the babies. Sea life is so cool!

Cute little skulls!! <3

Shoes are by Deandri!

Full Bloom // Starfall

So I really want to preface this post by saying: THERE WERE SO MANY MOTHERFUCKING BEES BY THESE FLOWERS. It's not that I expected anything different, but I wasn't expecting them to be so close to my face I guess. There's quite a lot of out takes of this shoot of me running away in terror. Not exactly afraid of bees or anything...but once while taking photos for my blog I got stung IN THE EYELID so I'm a little weary, let's put it that way!

Anyway, this lovely dress is from Chicwish, the acorn necklace is from Oasap, and the shoes are from Deandri!!
(Photos by Michelle M.!!)

I also wanted to share a song I'm super into right now! It's a remix of one the song "Get Lucky" (Vanderway Edit) off of Daft Punk's new album, Random Access Memories.

Wisteria is such a pretty flower! I love how elegantly it hangs down.

I decided to give the acorn necklace from Oasap to my mom, cause acorns are one of her favourite motifs!!

Shoes by Deandri!

Josh running away to climb around in trees like a monkey or something...which is usually what he's doing when me and Michelle are taking photos, haha.

Long time no post! Portland life is treating me well, but I've been very busy! Today I wanted to show off a Jack Daniel's t-shirt I got from Freestylextreme! I'd be lying if I said I hadn't seen this very same shirt on other people about a million times, but I can't help it...I like Jack Daniel's!

Today's look was inspire by "Sweet Home Alabama" !

Fluorescent dress + Summer trends!!

I actually have a strangely long post for you guys, today! I recently moved and am very far away from my friend Michelle who always takes my photos, but my friend Minkie has been nice enough to let me and Josh borrow her camera so that we can take photos again, yay! Our old camera has a pretty hard time holding a charge, so I'm really thankfull for my friends who have helped me out so much recently!

Anyway, this is one of the first real "neon" or "flou" items I've ever owned. I really liked neon when I was younger and felt like being bright any annoying, but I feel like this trend is coming back with force and in a much better way, so I'm actually going to talk about trends at the end of this post, which is not something I often do, so I feel like it might as well be touched on!

(Dress is from Banggood, necklace is from RIRE Boutique, and shoes are from Deandri!)

Also, I want to give specially attention to my shoes in this post. They're fucking AWESOME. Deandri is basically one of my new favourite brands ever!!

Now, on to the trends!

Neon Summer

This summer has been mostly about floral, monochrome and two-toned prints when it comes to fashion. However, this post is about neon colors and how this trend has been driving up over the roof this season.
Neon colors aren't only confined to your pink and orange colored lipsticks. They look just as chic and stylish when used in dresses, skinny jeans, heels, handbags and jewelry. Neons make bold statements about your character as well as make you appear more hip and daring.

Here are the top neon trends for summer 2013!

Dresses

If you’re searching for a scrumptious look to steal the spotlight, a cute and short neon colored dress will do you justice The possible colors you can consider wearing are candy pink, fluorescent green, bright purple or delicious orange. The neon dresses currently available are sleeveless, with a tight bodice and a flowing frock structure.
If you’re looking for some cute baby doll neon colored dresses, Kate Spade coupon and promos from other brands can help you save while shopping. Fashionistas have spent ages obsessing over the standard little black dress, and neons are the little black dresses for the season. You can also wear them in evening to your next Gatsby ball.

Colored Tights or Skinny Jeans
If you think it would be mundane to wear neon colored dress, you can find stylish neon bottoms. These bottoms are available in the form of translucent leggings, tights and skinny jeans. Translucent leggings look stunning if paired with a plain white top, or something along the dull side like grey or in the light blue range.
The colors that celebrities have been wearing religiously include candy pink and bright orange. You can even go for opaque leggings and skinny jeans to make the look more solid and strong. If you’re really willing to take a risk, wear neon with a neon dress. Complementary colors are orange and blue or purple and green.

Shoes
Chunky wedges are in this summer. What makes them look even better is a neon color base. It’s recommended that you go for any neon colored heels (preferably wedges) with skin colored leggings and a plain dress.
You can easily save on neon colored wedges through online coupon codes and other discounts that aren’t difficult to find on the web. This look will make you feel you popped right out of the 60s. Sometimes it’s good to revive a bit of the old style. If you’re tired of wearing heels and your feet hurt, take a break by wearing one neon color toned pumps. They look adorable as well.

Accessories
The possible accessories you can pair with a look are endless. Form handbags, clutches to earring and necklaces; anything looks great. However, make sure you don’t over-do it. If your look is simple and you’re dressed in plain white, peach, tulle grey or powder blue, you can sport a large handbag along the tone of orange, pink and even yellow neon colors.
Yellow is quite a daring choice. Wear it only if you think you can manage to pull it off. If you want something simple and make a hint of fashion evident, it would be a good idea to wear tiny neon colored studded tops. You can also pair a plain white cotton shirt with a chunky necklace that has two different neon colors or even one.
Spend summer in style with neon colors all around you. Not only they’ll make you be the eye of wherever you’re at, but you’ll look stylish and ooze panache.

I really hope you enjoyed this post, and as always,

xoxo, ashlei
