Designer feature: Yigal Azrouël

Today I would like to share with you some of my favourite designs from the mind of Yigal Azrouël, an NYC based fashion designer.

I love this item in particular for two reasons: One, it's lambskin, so it's built to last. Secondly, it's versatile! Not only is it a jacket, but the sleeves can be removed to create a vest, for a whole different feel and look! Whenever you can, purchase things that have more than one function--this way, you're always getting the best of both worlds!

Always with a modern freshness, Yigal's "Pastiche Scarf" draws my attention more than any other garment in his ready to wear collection currently. As if the opposite colours are not bold enough, the pattern itself steals your eye away! (I'd love to own this scarf!!)

He is is well known for his feminine designs, and simply stellar draping abilities! (Just look at how delicately this Cashmere Knit top lays, it's wonderful and girly, yet bold and modern!)

Yigal Azrouël garments come highly recommended by me, so check out his website if you get the chance, they're seriously stellar!!

I love it because of the waning moon--I'm a bit superstitious, and bad things always seem to happen to me when the moon is full. So to have this moon on my chest makes me feel safe, haha, I am an odd one!

I am in love with my new dress from Oh My Frock!!

It was SO fun to wear in the snow. I love wearing black when it's snowy out!!

The detail is sooo pretty up close, I love the delicate lace. You might not notice, but the dress is actually just a sallopette! The long sleeved blouse underneath was just what I decided to wear with it.

It's funny because, I went up to this same place TWO days before and it was so hot it felt like summer. Thank you, Oregon, for your weird indecisive seasons.

I swear, this vintage tee is probably one of my favourite shirts. My boyfriend found it for me! He has such a good eye!

We took all these pictures in probably less than 5 minutes. There are cougars in the area, and there was something huge rustling around in the bushes, so. We're outie!!

Happy Holidays, everyone! And Merry Christmas, if you happen to celebrate it! Today is Christmas where I am, and I spent it with my mom, dad, and boyfriend!

Since this is a fashion blog and basically everything I received is related, I figured I would show off the lovely things I was given! This first one is of a Juicy Couture perfume and lotion set my mom got me, it's called "Couture Couture" and it smells so nice! Juicy makes really nice perfumes--I wish I had a larger perfume collection!

My mom knows me all too well. Juicy, and now some Betsey Johnson! Travel bags! I actually end up traveling quite a lot, so these will come in useful! (I wonder how my boyfriend will feel if I give him the black one for his toiletries since he doesn't have one? Haha, at least it's not super girly!)

Victoria's Secret, too! Almost all of some of my favourite brands, so far! I've been wearing Love Spell since 9th grade which is quite a few years, so this makes me super happy! Victoria's secret recently diss-countinued ALL of their perfumes, though. So bummed out, but happy I have a bunch of them stocked up.

This was actually the one thing I asked for for Christmas! A mint fanny pack from Urban Outfitters! (Looks just like my brown one from Shop Lately, only it was more expensive)

This stone necklace and the twisted feather bracelet are a perfect match for this fanny pack!!

I'm actually a pretty boring person and always wear the same makeup everyday no matter what, so this will be fun to try! (And incase you're wondering, yes, that's a framed Night of the Living Dead poster on our wall.)

My boyfriend got me this wallet by MNG by MANGO, since mine has been falling apart! He's so sweet!

Who says socks are a bad Christmas gift?! Especially when they're angora!!

I don't generally like Aeroposatle, but the year they were established along with their initials is my initial, and my birthyear, so my mom got it for me as well--I love that it's dog tags, I've been wanting some. And the peace symbol bracelet is too cute!

Of course, at least one joke gift. Everyone in my family says I am obsessed with pepper. I put it on nearly everything. Now I have my own so that I don't keep stealing the one from the kitchen!!

I'm very thankful to have received such lovely things, and feel very lucky to have the life that I have. Most of all, I'm thankful for my family and that I got to be with them this year, as I haven't had a family Christmas in some time.

I hope everyone who celebrates Christmas had a lovely one, and that whatever you celebrate, if anything, that you're having a wonderful winter season!!

I love love love my new top from Sugarlips Apparel! I think I've worn it at LEAST five times before posting this set of photos. It's so comfortable!

The top is awesome and has a lot of sparkly bits on it. That's why the sun is catching it like this in the photo!

I have ALWAYS wanted a camera that can take photos of the moon. Most cameras aren't good enough, so when I saw this I wasn't even going to try. My boyfriend decided to anyway, and I'm super glad you can actually see the moon in these photos!

Today I would like to share something very special with you! Recently, I received from my wonderful friend Salla, gifts from her home country of Finland! I absoloutley love everything she got me! The deer necklace is my favourite, I had been wanting one like it for SO long! (I swear she can read my mind!) I wore it recently when I went out with all my friends for my boyfriend's 21st birthday!

She also wrote a letter on really cute paper, and sent me candies that are native to Finland! The one in the black box is a salty candy that Finns love, but apparently most foreigners hate. I think it's great!

It's really fun having friends from other countries, I feel like I have learned so many things I would never have known otherwise, because of her!

I wanted to start out today by showing you three lovely items sent to me by the awesome Mexy Shop!! Starting out with a detail on this garment rather than the full piece- just look at how cute the deer on the front are, and the delicate touches of rabbit fur! Patterned winter sweaters are definitely in this winter!

It's so cute, overall!

It even has a double-lined hood!

Again, patterned sweaters!! I've already put an outfit together for this piece. I can't wait until it's not so gloomy out, so I can take photos wearing it (and then snuggle in it the rest of the day!)

I love the detail of the buttons along the side, and the cute little pockets!

I want to draw special attention to this item--not because of how awesome the leopard print is, but because of the quality of this item! When I first picked it up out of the package it was SO SOFT!! Turns out, it's because it's made partially from angora, no wonder!

I visited one of my best friends and stayed for the weekend! We took LookBook pictures, as always!

Some of the forested areas near her house are really pretty!!

I have literally been looking for white cowboy boots for half of my time on this earth. I purchased these online thinking they were dusty white rather than tan--of course with my luck they were totally tan. It would figure, right? However, I'm still super happy with them! I've heard there's such a think as leather paint out there, so there's always that if I'm feeling crafty.

And I've worn them a few times since receiving them (you can view them worn, in the entry below!) and I'm actually becoming quite fond of the shade, although I still would LOVE white cowboy boots someday!!

But speaking on some intense wants here, what's something you've ALWAYS lusted after and never been able to get ahold of, OR something you've been lusting after awhile, and FINALLY obtained? Let's hear your stories, ladies!

My dad's alpaca sweater!

I really love my new sweater! My mom had given it to my dad for this season, however it was a bit too small for him, and he gave it to me! I think it's really stylish--both my parents have great taste! (I'm glad I get to benefit from it by getting this awesome sweater made from alpaca!!)

If you'll notice, it even has alpaca ON it!! They look kind of silly, but I like it.

I'm really diggin' my new off-white cowboy boots from DURANGO, too! I have a post & review coming about them shortly!!

I really love my new (but vintage!) geometric print sweater I got while shopping with one of my best friends, Jenna, and my boyfriend, Josh!

I also really like my new fox scarf from Urban Outfitters. I think I got the last one!

Do you like my handmade bag? I made it from a little kit from a craft store. I didn't like the instructions though, so I made it my own way, and also added some beads to the fringe on the end!

My Chicwish order & How to make the most of your purchases in 10 steps!

Just the other night I made an order of the lovely above items from "Chicwish"!

Every time I look at their clothing, I want to order every item I see!

But let's face it--we don't always get everything we want, or even all the things we need in life, and likely we're ALL on some sort of budget. So when it comes to clothes, and you have some extra cash and want to fluff up your wardrobe, how do you go about ordering and choosing the "haves", and the "have-nots"?

Personally, I have a tactic about it. For those of you maybe feeling high up in the regret department when it comes to clothing purchases, why not try this method? Here it is, in ten steps! (This may take a moment or two to read, but trust me, it's worth it!)

1. In your web browser, open up all the main pages of the websites you're interested in possibly purchasing from. Start off with one website.

2. Look at EVERY section on the website you care about. If that's just skirts, look through EVERY single page of the skirts. If you're interested in everything or unsure, scour the entire website.

3. Open every item you're possibly considering in a separate tab.

4. Review every separate clothing tab you have open. Think over and re-think what you really want. Do you REALLY need that necklace? That shirt, too? Go back and forth in each tab, comparing which items you REALLY want more! (Don't forget to ask yourself certain questions like "Do I need this in my wardrobe?" & "Do I actually even have anything currently that will match well this this garment, or do I just want it in general?"-- close the tabs based upon what you actually need--I only own one pair of pants yet many shirts, so for me to go and buy a bunch of shirts and NO bottom pieces makes NO sense.)

5. Close the tabs of the clothing you decide against--but maybe favourite them in your browser so you can come back to them in the future.

6. Put every remaining item in the cart on the website.

7. You know you have a budget--look at all the items in the cart. Remove more items you decide against or can't afford based on that total number cost staring you down, and think over the items again. Okay, do you REALLY need the second pair of pants? Maybe those can go!

8. You might not be able to afford everything you want, so sometimes even at the shopping cart stage you're going to have to remove things you really want--the point of putting all these things in the cart is to REALLY pit them against each other. You see the cost, you see every item side by side. Make a tough decision!

9. Remove items until you can afford the items that are MUST-HAVES, and proceed to ordering!!

10. Repeat this process on the other websites you're considering ordering from.

Now, I know all the above steps may seem obvious, but sometimes when you really have a bit of money burning a hole in your pocket, you might make rash decisions you later regret. Just DON'T forget the steps you need to take to make yourself happy with your purchases! If you're going to spend your money on wants (like clothes) rather than base needs or putting it into savings, you might as well be happy with yourself, right?

This process works for me, so I hope it works for you, too!
